Radiology Technologist II- Full Time 2nd Shift

Job Responsibilities Operates x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by a physician. Accountable for the performance and documentation of all diagnostic procedures utilizing proper technical parameters to produce quality studies. Knowledgeable in the safe use, maneuverability, and operation of all general radiography, portable, fluoro, C-arm, and O-arm equipment. Proficient in the performance of general diagnostic, general fluoroscopy, GI, pain, urology, C-arm, and O-arm procedures. Adheres to infection prevention, isolation, and sterile techniques as it applies to patient handling and delivery of care. Adheres to ALARA principles in performance of exams to reduce exposure to self, the patient, and others. Utilizes proper patient identification to ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient at the correct time. Obtains and records pertinent patient history, explains the procedure to the patient in a manner that ensures understanding, and ensures patient comfort during performance of the exam. Adheres to department standards of radiographic quality. Reviews radiographs to ensure optimum quality. Reports environmental/equipment problems to appropriate resource personnel. Performs required computer functions for RIS/HIS systems. Labels all radiographs appropriately following department’s established criteria and standards. Consistently maintains an attitude of professionalism, teamwork, and collaboration with co-workers, physicians, and internal customers/departments. Consistently provides positive interactions and a customer‑first approach with patients, their families/caregivers, and visitors. Participates in assessment of own learning needs and actively seeks opportunities for increased competency and growth. Attends in‑services to ensure knowledge of current departmental and technical procedures. Attends CPR classes to maintain re‑certification. Maintains appropriate state license and national board certification. Maintains supplies needed to ensure adequate level of quality patient care. Ensures cleanliness of equipment and work area. Maintains inventory of supplies in work area, identifies supplies and equipment needs for procedures, and restocks work area as necessary. Uses Universal Precautions in daily performance of procedures. Education / Experience Required Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology. IEMA Accreditation in Radiologic Technology. Current ARRT (RT) Certification. At least 1 year of experience and proficiency in the performance of general diagnostic, general fluoroscopy, GI, pain, urology, C-arm, and O-arm procedures. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Good communication skills. Understanding of RIS & PACS. Ability to work under stressful situations. Ability to handle patient information in a confidential manner. Ability to adapt to fluctuations in patient volumes to meet patient care and department needs. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to work weekends and holidays to accommodate patient care needs. Ability to work rotating shift any day of the week. Ability to take call and arrive on site within one hour. May be exposed to radiation during procedures. May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time or to lift and move patients. May be exposed to hazardous materials, infectious disease, and required to participate in annual emergency drills. Required to maintain current CPR certification. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; for patient lifts over 35 pounds, or when the patient is unable to assist, patient handling equipment is expected to be used when available; unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case‑by‑case basis. #J-18808-Ljbffr Advocate Health Care
