Warehouse Worker Ink Manufacturing Facility

This Warehouse Worker role supports daily operations in an ink manufacturing facility by receiving, storing, moving, and shipping raw materials and finished ink products. You will work closely with production, quality, and shipping teams to keep materials flowing efficiently while following strict safety and environmental procedures in an environment that includes pigments, solvents, and other chemical-based materials.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming raw materials including pigments, resins, solvents, and packaging supplies.
• Accurately pick, stage, and prepare ink products and materials for production or shipment.
• Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, sit-down forklifts, drum handlers, and other MHE when certified.
• Label, package, and document finished ink products according to company and customer specifications.
• Maintain inventory accuracy using warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, or manual logs.
• Follow all safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), and environmental procedures related to chemical handling and storage.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant warehouse and storage area, including general cleaning and janitorial tasks as needed.
• Assist with cycle counts, inventory audits, and material reconciliations to ensure accurate stock levels.
• Work closely with production, quality, and shipping teams to meet production and shipping deadlines.
• Properly handle waste materials and assist with spill response in accordance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines.
• Prepare waste ink for shipment by re-palletizing waste drums, obliterating old labels, applying new labels, and ensuring drums and buckets are clean.
• Utilize banding equipment to secure drums and pallets safely for storage and transport.
• Perform general production and packing tasks, including loading, unloading, and material handling as assigned.
• Use RF scanners and other warehouse tools to track inventory movements and transactions.
• Read and interpret tape measures, rulers, and basic measurements to support mechanical and packing tasks.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of warehouse, manufacturing, or production experience, preferably in a chemical or ink environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks.
• Ability to sit, squat, and stand for extended periods during the shift.
• Comfort working around chemicals, pigments, solvents, and industrial materials.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
• Ability to read and write in the English language.
• Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to safety.
• Experience with material handling equipment, including pallet jacks, sit-down forklifts, drum lifters, and other MHE.
• Ability to utilize banding equipment to secure drums and pallets.
• Experience with shipping and receiving processes in a production or warehouse environment.
• Capability to perform heavy manual labor, including loading, unloading, and moving drums and other materials.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a production facility handling pigments, resins, solvents, or similar chemical-based materials.
• Experience in general production, packing, and material handling.
• Familiarity with RF scanners for inventory tracking and warehouse transactions.
• Ability to operate drum handling equipment and other specialized warehouse tools after training.
• Comfort working in a role that includes cleaning, janitorial tasks, and maintaining a tidy work area.
• Mechanical aptitude, including using tape measures, reading rulers, and working with small hand tools.
• Experience with labeling, packaging, and documentation of finished products.
• Willingness to complete training to become an operator and expand responsibilities over time.
• No specific medical exams, commercial driving licenses, or formal certifications required for hire.

Work Environment

This role is based in a production facility that handles inks and solvents. The plant maintains a very clean environment due to the nature of the materials, but the work itself is very dirty and hands-on, especially when dealing with waste ink, drums, and cleaning tasks. You can expect a noticeable ink and paint smell throughout the facility. The position operates on a first shift schedule, typically from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with overtime available as needed. You will regularly use material handling equipment such as sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, drum lifters, banding equipment, and RF scanners, and work in close proximity to production lines, storage areas, and shipping docks. The facility emphasizes safe handling of chemicals, organized storage, and adherence to environmental and safety procedures while maintaining a practical, physically demanding warehouse and production environment.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Springfield, VA.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
