Summary The Universal Banker serves as a full-service, single point of contact in the branch for SouthState customers’ financial needs. The position operates in dual capacity of a Teller and FSR, providing exceptional customer service in transactional and account management, and seeks to attract, expand, and retain customer relationships to contribute to the bank’s financial growth. Essential Functions Serve customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to SouthState Bank Service Standards. Know and understand the products and services offered by the Bank, including facts and features, benefits and advantages, rules and regulations, price structure, and a simple definition of each service offered. Identify customer needs and expectations by listening for clues and seek opportunities to expand relationships through referrals as outlined in goals for this position. Present a neat and professional personal appearance in accordance with bank policy. Know and ensure compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act. Develop a strong understanding of customer-facing technology and be able to discuss and enroll customers in self-service options. Perform teller duties: process transactions for savings, checking, and loan accounts; maintain neat and orderly work area; assist in guiding and training new tellers; allow customers access to safe deposit boxes; cash checks and process savings withdrawals within limits; sell certified checks; balance transactions daily; service/balance ATMs; utilize branch capture system; follow policies and procedures to minimize operational errors and maintain proper workflow. Perform FSR duties: open new deposit accounts; handle services such as stop payments, wire transfers, and other maintenance functions within limits; explain policies and procedures; resolve customer problems and complaints with courtesy and discretion; direct customers with difficult problems to appropriate sources; view problems as opportunities to satisfy customers and promote additional services; maintain accurate branch records, reports, and correspondence; follow security and audit procedures and understand security devices. Universal Banker Functions One year of teller or cash handling experience and six months of customer relationship building or sales experience. Demonstrated expertise in Teller II and basic FSR job functions. Additional responsibilities may include vault responsibilities or back-up vault responsibilities. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements High School diploma or equivalent. Cash handling, sales, and customer service experience; previous banking experience preferred. Good interpersonal and computer skills; ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Training Requirements/Classes The SouthState Way New Team Member Orientation. Teller Foundations. Banker Foundations. All assigned Regulatory Compliance Training. Acknowledgement of all policies through DocuSign as assigned. Additional training may be required depending on experience. Physical Demands Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; stand and/or sit for long periods of time; effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations; identify customers. Work Environment The position is located in an open lobby area with an individual workstation inside a cooled and heated facility; access to a break room or restroom is available during breaks. Travel Travel may be required for meetings or training as needed. Compensation Pay is anticipated to be between $37,579.00 - $56,369.00, actual offers determined by skills, experience, and education.
