Job Summary

W e are seeking an experienced DCN Mechanical Designer to support engineering teams in the design and development of mechanical, piping, and structural systems for high-density and hyperscale data center environments.

 

Job Description

  • Develop and check mechanical, piping, and structural drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and related engineering documentation in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Independently prepare bulk Material Take-Offs (MTOs) and detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Create and review design drawings to ensure compliance with engineering, QA/QC, departmental, and customer standards.
  • Develop mechanical, piping, and structural deliverables, including: Piping layouts and general arrangement drawings, Piping isometrics and piping schedules, Piping tie-point and interface drawings, Piping insulation details, Structural general arrangement drawings, Structural weld details and notes, Structural connection details, Foundation support details, Equipment mounting and support details, Pipe support details, Weight and center-of-gravity (COG) reports, Manual valve lists, HVAC ducting layouts, Instrumentation and flow diagrams, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Pump alignment drawings, Handrails, ladders, walkways, and stairs, Platform and grating detail drawings, Other mechanical, piping, and structural design documentation as required
  • Support service personnel by analyzing and simulating design-related problems through drawings and models.
  • Complete straightforward Engineering Work Requests while following established Work Instructions and Engineering Standards.
  • Produce design reports and extract information from 3D models to support project, client, and third-party requirements.
  • Review vendor drawings and technical data, as required, to verify compliance with client specifications and applicable standards.
  • Coordinate and supervise outsourced engineering and design activities performed by third-party engineering/design firms.
  • Communicate effectively with engineering, project management, manufacturing, field/service, clients, vendors, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Identify design issues, evaluate available information, and develop practical solutions using technical experience and engineering principles.
  • Provide lessons-learned feedback and contribute to improvements in design tools, procedures, and engineering processes.
  • Support management objectives, departmental initiatives, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy, quality, safety, and technical due diligence across all assigned work.

 

S kills Required

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant design experience in lieu of formal technical certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working with mechanical, piping, and structural design scopes.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently produce detailed engineering drawings, models, and design documentation.
  • Ability to create drawings and sketches to communicate design concepts and ideas.
  • Experience with high-density data centers and/or hyperscale data center environments is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with CAD and BIM software.
  • Understanding of the purpose and function of electrical systems within facilities.
  • Experience preparing BOMs and MTOs is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawing practices, design processes, and quality requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure and fast-paced environments.
  • Flexibility and comfort with frequent task switching as project priorities change.
  • Strong understanding of design quality, safety, and engineering standards.
  • Creative thinking and the ability to identify opportunities to improve designs and processes.
  • Strong client-service orientation and ability to build productive professional relationships.
  • High level of work ethic, accountability, and professional due diligence.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

 

Education

  • Designer should be in possession of a Technical Certification in the design discipline or min 10 years experience.
  • Technical certification in mechanical, structural, piping, drafting, or a related design discipline

 

Pay Rate

  • $45 - $63 pe r hour (Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors)
