Production Control Specialist 2

Overview Controlled Storage Custodian is a position within the Supply Chain Management organization of the Weapons Production Directorate at Los Alamos National Laboratory (TRIAD). The selected candidate will manage construction, programmatic, and facility related material for the Associate Lab Director for Weapons Production (ALDWP). This role supports ensuring construction and facility milestones and deliverables are met. What You Will Do Manage construction, programmatic, and facility related material for ALDWP; contribute to meeting construction and facility milestones and deliverables. Utilize multiple inventory management systems to maintain and verify inventory levels, ensure item traceability, and store materials on shelves in an organized manner to enable expeditious retrieval; locate, pull, and stage material for construction related activities. Ensure pulled material is the correct Management Level (ML) for end use and comply with applicable codes and standards, and institution-controlled storage procedures (P330-11, 12, and 13); ensure material is controlled, storage level requirements are met, shelf-life enforcement, and accuracy of inventory records; maintain or arrange handling of quality-affecting items. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet areas, and workstations neat; maintain a clean receiving area; follow procedures, rules, and regulations; work cohesively in a team; demonstrate high attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Contribute to problem resolution for moderately complex scope, including safety and security compliance, maintaining required safety and security training, and integrating safety and security into every task; take steps to stop or pause work if continuing would be unsafe or compromise security. Demonstrate knowledge of relevant Laboratory policies, procedures, and standards; apply inventory management and control practices with awareness of NQA-1 standards; have general knowledge of supply chain management, resource management, and configuration/change/release management processes. Minimum Requirements Education/Experience: 5 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Material Management: Demonstrated ability to manage material in accordance with applicable QA and industry standards; prior materials management experience. Business Systems: Proficient in Inventory Control, Material Tracking systems, and software suites (e.g., Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access). Communication: Strong written and oral communication with customers in a service-oriented setting; ability to communicate findings and make recommendations; proactively assist others in achieving organizational objectives. Customer Service: Background in customer service with ability to manage inquiries, troubleshoot problems, and deliver high-quality service. Organizational Skills: High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment. Additional Requirements: Ability to work independently, basic knowledge of construction/maintenance activities, familiarity with QA standards and LANL Management Levels, and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment; familiarity with construction disciplines (electrical, mechanical, fire protection). Desirable Qualifications Ability to obtain HRP certification and forklift license. Chemical management experience; knowledge of Laboratory procedures, standards, and guides. Knowledge of industry, regulatory, or DOE/NNSA complex specific codes and standards. Strong quantitative and analytical skills; experience managing material in a nuclear environment with item traceability. Willingness to learn supply chain management practices and chemical handling/storage requirements. Active DOE Q-level clearance. Essential Job Functions Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. Work Location Onsite in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management. Work Schedule May require 24/7 coverage, including shift/weekend work; shift differential pay may apply as assigned by management. Schedule is at management discretion.
