About the Position

Job Title: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: Minimum 0 years License: Current RN license required Certifications: BLS required, ACLS required, Crisis Prevention Institute training preferred Must-Have: Basic Dysrhythmia preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientation. NHISS certification preferred or obtained prior to completion of orientation. Description: Supports and promotes the mission and values of the organization. Renders professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit of the hospital, in support of medical care as directed by medical staff and pursuant to objectives and policies of the hospital. Completes all unit-specific competencies and requirements to care for critically ill patients. Participates in quality improvement planning and processes for the area of practice. Completes clinical documentation and care plans comprehensively and in a timely manner for assigned patients. Seeks feedback regarding practice and takes appropriate action. Demonstrates knowledge of current practice standards and applicable nurse practice acts. Communicates patient information effectively for continuity and safe care through handoffs and collaboration with the medical team. Ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by following established procedures and protocols. Implements resources and initiatives to improve patient safety. Promotes a culture of safety and error reporting through adherence to safe practices. Addresses issues through the appropriate chain of command. Conducts hourly rounding in collaboration with nursing assistants for all assigned patients. Identifies and assists in correcting patient care safety issues. Recognizes and praises excellent performance in colleagues. Builds respectful relationships through proactive identification of concerns and suggestions. Collaborates across units and shifts to resolve conflicts and issues promptly. Consults with nurses in other departments to leverage expertise across specialties. Displays a professional and positive demeanor at all times, even under challenging circumstances. Seeks opportunities to support all team members. Demonstrates flexibility in resolving tension within the unit. Adheres to the tenets of shared governance and the philosophy of the organization. Participates in problem-solving and conflict resolution. Effectively delegates aspects of care and unit activities to other nursing personnel. Collaborates in planning, supervising, and instructing other nurses and assistants. Works cohesively with nursing students and instructors. Participates in peer review of colleagues. Engages in survey readiness activities. Demonstrates commitment to colleagues and holds peers accountable. Manages time off in accordance with policy. Performs other duties consistent with this role.
