About This Unit 7 North East is a 33‑bed Medical Surgical unit that specializes in bariatric, colon and rectal, urological, and gastrointestinal surgeries, as well as other general surgeries and medical disorders. We aim to provide patients and families with high‑quality, efficient, effective, and compassionate care while fostering teamwork and a safe work culture. The unit is also the designated Bariatric unit at Royal Oak Hospital and holds Bariatric Accreditation from MBSAQIP. Scope of Work The RN applies the ANA scope of practice and the nursing process to provide professional nursing care. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and discharge, and involve patient‑family centered care principles, collaboration with the Nurse Leader, and documenting education and learning in the health record. Qualifications Associates or Diploma in Nursing required. Bachelor’s in Nursing required within 5 years for new graduates or RN with less than 1 year of experience. Graduates from a non‑accredited nursing school must have at least one year of acute care experience or two years in a licensed health care role and must have passed the NCLEX. Must be a Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) within 60 days of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire from one of the following: American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke.
