About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and responsive Dispatch Coordinator to support our container drayage operations at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. This role is the operational hub between terminals, drivers, customers, and operations team—ensuring every container moves on time, every exception gets resolved, and every stakeholder stays informed.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and assign daily dispatch tasks for container drayage at the Ports of LA/Long Beach, including container pickup, warehouse delivery, empty return, and transshipment.

Monitor terminal appointment systems, track container status, and follow up on ETA, LFD (Last Free Day), pickup and empty return appointments to keep every milestone on schedule.

Assign daily tasks to drivers, track in-transit progress, and promptly resolve exceptions such as terminal queues, containers not ready, and chassis shortages.

Maintain real-time communication with operations team, terminals, and trucking fleets; update container status and dispatch information in the TMS to ensure accurate and timely information sharing.

Coordinate trucking adjustments during customs exams/holds and support the customs team to ensure smooth cargo release.

Complete other dispatch-related tasks assigned by management.

Requirements

Basic English reading and writing skills; able to navigate terminal systems, read English emails, and communicate at a basic level with local drivers and terminal staff.

Proficient in computer and office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.); experience with TMS or logistics operating systems preferred.

Quick-thinking with strong communication and coordination skills; able to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.

Experience in LA/LB port drayage, trucking dispatch, or logistics is preferred.

Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Salary negotiable (market reference for similar LA roles: $22–$30/hour, depending on experience).
