Job Title: Phlebotomist Job Description

This role focuses on performing high-quality blood draws and specimen processing in a physician office setting. The phlebotomist supports accurate laboratory testing by collecting, receiving, and preparing biological specimens, entering data into the laboratory information system, and ensuring all pre- and post-analytical procedures follow established guidelines and the Code of Conduct.

• Perform venipuncture and other blood collection procedures on patients, including those who are considered difficult draws, in a safe, accurate, and compassionate manner.
• Collect, label, and receive biological specimens into the department, ensuring proper patient identification and adherence to established protocols.
• Accurately enter specimen and patient information into the company’s computer system and verify data for completeness and correctness.
• Prepare specimens for analytical testing, including processing, aliquoting, and packaging according to laboratory standards and test requirements.
• Distribute specimens to the appropriate analytical areas or departments in a timely and organized manner.
• Follow all pre-analytical procedures, including proper patient preparation, specimen handling, and documentation.
• Perform specified analytical testing as assigned, adhering to laboratory policies and quality standards.
• Carry out post-analytical tasks, such as storing, transporting, or disposing of specimens in accordance with safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Work closely with physicians and medical assistants in a doctor’s office setting to coordinate patient flow and ensure a positive patient experience.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, following infection control and safety protocols at all times.
• Adhere to the organization’s Code of Conduct and all applicable policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate effectively as a team player, offering support to colleagues and contributing to a positive and professional work environment.

• At least 1–2 years of phlebotomy experience, including experience working with patients who are difficult draws.
• Proficiency in performing blood draws and phlebotomy procedures in a clinical or physician office setting.
• Experience with specimen collection, handling, and processing for laboratory testing.
• Ability to accurately enter and manage patient and specimen information in a computer or laboratory information system.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to pre- and post-analytical laboratory procedures.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work effectively as a team player and collaborate with medical assistants and other clinical staff.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.

• Experience working in medical and geriatric settings, including drawing blood from older adult populations.
• Familiarity with specimen processing workflows in a clinical laboratory environment.
• Commitment to professional growth, with interest in advancing through a structured career ladder (for example, progression to higher-level phlebotomy roles).
• Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in a Monday–Friday daytime schedule.

This position is based in a health center located in Scottsdale, AZ, near Pinnacle Peak Road, working as a phlebotomist within a physician’s office. You will draw blood from the physician’s patients and work closely with medical assistants and other clinical staff in a collaborative, patient-focused environment. The role follows a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The setting is a professional medical office and laboratory environment that emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and adherence to clinical and laboratory protocols. The organization offers significant opportunities for growth, including a structured career ladder that allows eligible employees, typically after six months, to advance to higher-level phlebotomy roles and be considered for internal promotion into leadership positions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Scottsdale, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.36/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
