Technical Services – Carpet & LVT

 

Location: Dalton, GA
Reports To: Director of Operations
Employment Type: Full-Time

 

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Technical Services Manager with deep expertise in carpet and luxury vinyl tile (LVT) products, installation practices, inspections, repairs, and technical problem-solving. This role will serve as the company's subject matter expert for flooring-related technical issues, quality assurance, field inspections, product evaluations, installation support, and repair services.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with commercial and residential flooring installations, understands industry standards and inspection protocols, and can effectively work with installers, manufacturers, dealers, and end users to resolve technical concerns. Experience operating flooring sample production equipment is a strong plus.

 

Key Responsibilities

Technical Services & Inspections

  • Conduct field inspections of carpet, carpet tile, broadloom, area rugs, and LVT installations.
  • Diagnose installation, product performance, and maintenance-related issues.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports with findings, root cause analysis, and corrective action recommendations.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for customers, installers, sales teams, and manufacturers.
  • Evaluate claims, warranty issues, and product failures.

 

Installation Support

  • Provide technical guidance on proper installation methods for carpet, carpet tile, broadloom, area rugs, and LVT.
  • Support installation teams with troubleshooting and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards (CRI, IICRC, FCICA, ASTM, etc.).
  • Develop installation procedures and technical documentation.

 

Carpet & Rug Repair Services

  • Perform or oversee carpet stretching, patching, seam repair, re-tufting, and other carpet restoration techniques.
  • Evaluate and coordinate rug and carpet mending projects.
  • Train technicians and installers on repair methodologies and quality standards.

 

Quality Assurance

  • Establish and maintain quality control standards for flooring products and installations.
  • Conduct jobsite audits and installation reviews.
  • Identify recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Track technical service metrics and customer satisfaction.

 

BONUS :

Sample Production & Technical Operations

  • Operate and maintain carpet and flooring sample-making equipment.
  • Produce customer and sales samples according to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot sample equipment and coordinate maintenance as needed.
  • Support product development and merchandising initiatives.

 

Planning & Estimating Experience

  • (Autocad, LPX, etc) for seaming diagrams, flooded plans, quantity takeoffs

 

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Carpet installation and repair
    • Carpet tile and broadloom systems
    • Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) installation and troubleshooting
    • Flooring inspection methodologies
    • Moisture testing and substrate evaluation
    • Flooring adhesives and installation systems
  • Ability to write inspection and technical reports.
  • Excellent problem-solving and customer communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and report documentation.

 

Preferred

  • Certified flooring inspector credentials.
  • FCICA, IICRC, CFI, NICFI, or related industry certifications.
  • Experience with carpet and rug mending/restoration.
  • Experience operating carpet sample cutting, serging, binding, or sample production equipment.
  • Experience working directly with flooring manufacturers.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel to customer sites and job locations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

This position is ideal for a flooring professional who is interested in progressing from installation, inspection, or field service into a technical leadership role and possesses a deep understanding of carpet, rugs, LVT, inspections, repairs, and flooring quality assurance , with the ability to support both field operations and technical manufacturing/sample production activities.
