This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a real difference in an applied skills classroom setting near Gary, IN. Step into a collaborative environment where your expertise as a Special Education Teacher will directly support a focused caseload of 14 students, fostering both academic and life skills development.
This role is perfect for educators with a strong foundation in special education who are ready to engage with students requiring mild or intense intervention. You’ll play a pivotal part in shaping individualized learning plans and helping students reach their fullest potential through consistent support and innovative instruction.
Qualifications:
- Valid Indiana Special Education Teaching Certification
- Endorsement in mild intervention or intense intervention
- Prior experience working with high school students with unique learning needs is highly valued
- Strong commitment to advocacy and inclusive education
- Collaborative mindset and excellent communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement effective individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student
- Provide targeted instruction in an applied skills classroom to encourage academic, social, and functional growth
- Work closely with classroom aides, related service providers, and families to support student success
- Manage and stay organized with documentation, progress monitoring, and required assessments
- Foster a positive, supportive, and structured classroom environment
