Job Title: Buyer/Planner

Assignment Type: Open Contract – 6–8 months with potential for extension

Pay: $36–$40/hour (based on experience)

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday; 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM, or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Hybrid schedule with work from home Monday and Friday and onsite Tuesday–Thursday.

About The Company:

Our client is a well-established manufacturing organization experiencing increased business and growth. They are adding Buyer/Planner professionals to their supply chain team to support purchasing, material planning, inventory, and supplier activities.

Job Description:

The Buyer/Planner will primarily focus on purchasing while also supporting material planning and inventory management. This role will review MRP data, manage purchase orders, communicate with suppliers, and work with internal teams to ensure materials are available to support production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review MRP and inventory data to identify purchasing needs and maintain appropriate material levels.
• Analyze production plans, forecasts, lead times, and capacity to determine material requirements.
• Create, issue, and update purchase orders based on production needs.
• Monitor open orders and recommend expediting or delaying materials when necessary.
• Maintain supplier lead times, safety stock levels, reorder points, and other planning information.
• Maintain accurate purchasing and material data within the ERP system.
• Communicate with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, quantities, delivery schedules, and order commitments.
• Request and evaluate vendor quotes and assist with identifying and evaluating new suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong supplier and subcontractor relationships.
• Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Accounting, Receiving, and other departments to resolve purchasing and material issues.
• Help resolve issues involving quality, pricing, product returns, receiving, scheduling, and material availability.
• Coordinate material flow with production schedules to help keep operations on track.
• Prepare purchasing, inventory, production, and other operational reports.
• Maintain purchasing records, spreadsheets, vendor documentation, and supporting materials.
• Enter and update purchasing and planning information within the ERP system.
• Assist with EDI updates and supplier communication as needed.
• Participate in supplier evaluation and selection activities.
• Visit supplier or subcontractor locations periodically, as needed.

Qualifications:

• 2–3 years of Buyer/Planner or related purchasing and material planning experience.
• Manufacturing or supply chain experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working directly with vendors and suppliers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel.
• Experience with an ERP system; SAP/S4HANA experience is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
