Reports To: General Manager Compensation: $58,000–$65,000 base, plus commission/bonus tied to event conversion and outreach-sourced revenue Location: El Segundo, CA — on-site Employment Type: Full-time, salaried, exempt Direct Reports: Event Leads About CaliSMASH CaliSMASH is a 40,000 square foot indoor pickleball facility in El Segundo, CA, featuring a full restaurant and sports bar alongside our courts. Beyond open play and programming, we host a high volume of private events — from small gatherings around $800 to large-scale bookings up to $40,000, with most events landing between $2,500 and $3,000. Events are one of the fastest-growing and highest-leverage parts of our business, and we're looking for a leader to take full ownership of that growth. About the Role The Head of Events will lead CaliSMASH's events business end to end — managing our Event Leads, ensuring every inbound lead is followed up on quickly and converted at a high rate, and building an active outreach strategy to bring in new event business rather than waiting for it to come to us. This is a full-time leadership role reporting directly to the General Manager, ideal for someone who is equal parts salesperson, operator, and manager. What You'll Do Manage and develop our Event Leaders, who will report directly to you Ensure all leads received through Triple Seat get timely follow-up within a defined response-time standard Track lead volume, conversion rate, and reasons deals are lost; report trends and recommendations to the General Manager on a regular cadence Build and run an outreach and business development strategy to generate new event business — corporate outreach, repeat-client cultivation, partnerships, and local community relationships Step in personally to run or support events on-site as needed, particularly high-value or high-complexity bookings Partner with our F&B and facilities teams to make sure events are staffed, resourced, and executed to CaliSMASH's standards Serve as Manager on Duty on a limited, rotating basis when on-site for events What We're Looking For Experience in event sales, venue management, hospitality, or a related field, ideally with team management experience A track record of hitting or exceeding sales/conversion targets and a genuinely proactive approach to business development Strong organizational skills and comfort owning metrics — you like knowing your numbers and improving them Hands-on, on-site leadership style; comfortable running a room and solving problems in real time Experience with Triple Seat or similar event/CRM platforms is a plus Enthusiasm for pickleball or racquet sports is a plus, but not required Compensation & Benefits Base salary of $58,000–$65,000, commensurate with experience, plus a commission or bonus structure tied to event conversion and outreach-sourced revenue — directly rewarding the growth you drive.
