Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of acute inpatient RN experience License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Patient assessment, plan of care, clinical interventions, patient and family education, mentoring and precepting Description: A professional nurse is accountable for the care of a group of patients. The Registered Nurse (RN) focuses on safe and effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for maintaining a financially stable unit and promoting personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care by applying the caring processes of the Kristin M. Swanson Model of Care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring or precepting staff. Responsibilities include performing assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. The RN demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. The RN initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care while reviewing and revising it as indicated. Collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary services is essential. Utilizing resources appropriately supports the needs of the organization, patient, and family. The RN monitors and documents responses to clinical interventions. Facilitating, coordinating, providing, and evaluating education specific to patient and family needs is part of the role. The RN functions as a mentor or preceptor and encourages teamwork. Opportunities for improvement are identified and communicated appropriately. Participation in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts is vital. Compliance with regulatory standards is required. The RN participates in the Practice Governance model.
