Responsibilities Include Supervising professional level accounting/finance staff in areas including financial reporting, debt accounting, and capital assets. Directing a wide range of financial reporting including coordinating the City's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Establishing division policies, procedures, and monitoring programs. Monitoring and implementing new pronouncements of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). Advising City departments on accounting and financial policies and technical procedures. Upon supervisory and department head approval, this position may work remotely up to 3 days per week or may work a flexible schedule (9/80 or 4/10). If a 4/10 or 9/80 schedule is chosen, the position is required to work in office each day. Ideal Candidate A willingness to embrace and manage change in a dynamic environment. Working within a large and integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and standards that impact financial reporting. Experience: Preparing and posting journal entries and preparing financial statements. Working with external and internal auditors. Ability to: Lead and motivate large and diverse teams. Build trust and respect, establish relationships, and develop rapport with technical and non-technical team members. Possess strong: Critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills. Interpersonal skills to engage team members, clients, and stakeholders and communicate business expectations to the technical development expert in ways they can produce desired outcome. SALARY Pay Range: $104,728.00 to $140,337.60 annually. Hiring Range: $104,728.00 to $127,296.00 annually. Pay Range Explanation Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification. Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity. Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase. Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease. Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade. Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. Working with internal and external business partners. Working with auditors. Governmental accounting standards. Cross functional teams supporting large departmental and enterprise-wide programs/projects. Supervising or directing the work of others. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA), or another relevant Audit or Financial Certification.
