Senior Software Systems Engineer, Cybersecurity - Westminster

Salary: $128,000 - 187,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• We expect demonstrated experience applying systems engineering principles to complex software-intensive systems in regulated or classified environments.
• We need experience implementing or supporting cybersecurity compliance frameworks such as NIST, CMMC, or comparable government security standards.
• We look for a strong grasp of modern software architecture, cloud technologies, cybersecurity principles, and secure software development practices.
• We require experience translating security and compliance obligations into engineering solutions, system designs, and technical implementation plans.
• We require an active U.S. Government security clearance appropriate for the mission environment.
• We need excellent communication and technical leadership skills, with the ability to influence engineering teams, security organizations, and government customers.
• Preferred experience includes supporting Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, National Security Space, or other regulated government environments.
• Preferred experience includes RMF, NIST 800 standards (53 and 171), CMMC, or similar security control implementation.
• Preferred experience includes DevSecOps, secure cloud architectures, or continuous compliance practices.
• Preferred experience includes Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or formal systems architecture methods.
• Preferred cybersecurity or cloud certifications include CISSP, Security+, or AWS Security Specialty.

• We serve as the senior technical authority for cybersecurity and compliance across software-intensive mission systems, ensuring our engineering solutions align with applicable security and regulatory requirements.
• We partner with engineering teams, security organizations, U.S. Government customers, and program leadership to turn compliance requirements into technical direction and engineering priorities.
• We lead the integration of cybersecurity and compliance requirements into system architecture, software development, cloud infrastructure, and operational processes.
• We assess technical risk, identify compliance gaps, and guide engineering teams toward practical and sustainable remediation approaches.
• We support security assessments, accreditation activities, and continuous compliance efforts while balancing mission performance, schedule, and operational goals.
• We mentor engineers and promote secure systems engineering practices that improve consistency, quality, and cross-team collaboration.
• We champion responsible AI-assisted engineering to strengthen compliance analysis, technical documentation, and engineering efficiency while preserving security and data protection.
• We apply AI-assisted methods to improve compliance analysis, architecture reviews, requirements evaluation, technical documentation, and engineering workflows.
• We evaluate AI-generated technical outputs using sound engineering judgment and cybersecurity best practices.
• We identify opportunities to boost engineering efficiency while maintaining the rigor required for mission-critical and classified environments.
• We ensure AI-assisted engineering practices follow organizational policies, customer requirements, and data protection standards.
