Responsibilities

1. Administrates and executes all estimating activities, processes, and deliverables for the Business Unit (BU)
2. Engages in estimating peer groups and communication with chief estimator peers across the enterprise on process improvements and resource sharing
3. Possesses and utilizes industry contacts with subcontractors, designers, and owners to advance BU market strategy
4. Utilizes market relationships and resources to collect and utilize market cost and supply chain information; engages with our supply chain team to provide regular input as requested for the quarterly surveys
5. Identifies and mitigates project costing risks throughout the design phase of the project including building appropriate contingency and allowance strategies on all projects
6. Schedules department estimating and deliverables while balancing workload accordingly
7. Manages the department to ensure multiple duties and responsibilities are executed by all staff members; Communicates with operations staff to plan work schedules
8. Identifies and communicates risks and outcomes affecting the BU
9. Leads the BU strategic planning process relating to estimating
10. Manages workload and performance of direct reports, ensuring alignment with overall company standards
11. Informs the BU leader of risks, activities, progress, and problems as it pertains to estimating activities
12. Responsible for the career development and coaching of team members
13. Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members
14. Interprets and translates the organizational strategy, ensuring team understanding of their role in accomplishing strategic goals
15. May be required to assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
• 15-20+ years relevant estimating experience
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Ability to lead BU estimating department
• Collaborative and able to reconcile estimating assumptions with designers and owners
• Ability to lead the estimating process and deliverable for projects throughout the design phase
• Strong presenter with estimating deliverables (internally and externally); participates in interviews during the pursuit phase
• Ability to conceptually estimate projects with limited information
• Ability to estimate multiple facility types such as residential high rise, healthcare, interiors, and institutional
• Ability to estimate within multiple delivery methods
• Ability to maintain strong working relationships with industry partners (owners, designers, subcontractors, etc.) for the development of estimating deliverables
• Researches and maintains market trends (material, equipment, lead times) relating to estimating efforts
• Serves as market ambassador of the Gilbane Brand

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team.
