Position Details:

RN PCU- Zanesville OH Location: Zanesville OH 43701 Project Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights (7p – 7:30a) Pay Rate: $45-$48/hr

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) on a travel or contract assignment. The RN will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to cardiac step-down and medical-surgical patients while collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced acute care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in a Progressive Care/Step-Down Unit.
• Monitor, assess, and manage patients with cardiac conditions, including post-cardiac catheterization recovery, cardiac drips, and post-operative open-heart patients.
• Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapies in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
• Continuously monitor patient conditions, recognize changes, and respond promptly to emergencies.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using an electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
• Float to other nursing units as needed based on patient volume and staffing requirements.
• Provide care for ventilated patients when necessary, based on patient needs and staffing.

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
• Minimum of three (3) years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or cardiac step-down nursing experience.
• Experience caring for post-open-heart patients, heart catheterization recovery patients, cardiac drips, and cardiac/medical-surgical step-down patients.
• Experience using Epic or a comparable electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient management skills.

Required Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
