Accounting AssistantFSC Panama City Corporate Office - Panama City, FL 32405Salary Range $17.00 - $21.00 Hourly Level Entry Position Type Full-Time (30 + hours/week) Education Level High School/Equivalent Travel Percentage Not applicable Category AccountingDescriptionJob Summary :The Accounting Assistant position is intended to understand the function of each department within First Service Corporation and how those departments provide support services to the Royal American Companies in order to assist in the facilitation of any projects that require collaboration between multiple departments.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :Must be able to meet strict deadlines established by department and management agreementsA strong understanding of GAAPReview accounting reports for accuracy and tie out balance sheet items to supportThe ability to interpret business documents to understand what impact they may have on financial statementsThe ability to interpret the accounting impact of business processes and operations softwareManage assigned projects and coordinate with necessary staff to meet deadlines and reporting requirementsAttend meetings as directed and other assignments as needed to meet the needs of the department and businessKnowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) :Ability to read and understand financial, statements, partnership agreements, and other business documentsFamiliar with monthly close processes and required reportingKnowledge of generally accepted accounting principlesEffective organizational and time management skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively and productively with other employeesDependable, punctual, and reliableProficient in advanced Excel and WordEducation and Experience :BS Degree in Business/ Accounting requiredSage (Timberline) software experience a plus and/orDocumented experience with other accounting softwaresPhysical Demands :Must be able work with a computer for a minimum of 7 hours dailyMust be able to read printed materials and computer screenMust be able to effectively and professionally communicate in e-mail, by phone, or in person during the course of the workdayAbility to perform data entry, keyboarding, and mouse functions to complete job duties timely and efficientlyAbility to use phone systems and office machines
