Analyst - Line Balance and Inventory Control

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the oversight and management of inventory availability within Avon’s Distribution Network, ensuring timely communication of any service issues that may impact Sales Ambassadors. This role partners closely with Order Fulfillment, Merchandise Control, Deployment, and Planning teams to effectively manage inventory across approximately 6,500 SKUs, provide product direction, and communicate potential service impacts. The position is also responsible for maintaining inventory management systems and location assignments throughout the shipping operation.

Supports the analysis, measurement, and reporting of operational performance and picking efficiencies. Continuously evaluates and implements strategies to improve productivity and picking performance from campaign to campaign and year over year. Oversees product slotting activities and monitors product placement and performance across the shipping floor to optimize operational efficiency.

Utilizes inventory reports, trend analysis, pick history, and reporting tools to develop and execute campaign-specific picking strategies. Maintains a strong working knowledge of Manhattan Active Warehouse Management (MAWM) and Warehouse Control System (WCS) applications. Coordinates and executes all Line Balance campaign changeover planning and administrative functions, including the preparation, distribution, and communication of changeover plans.

Drives process improvements and operational cost savings alignment with established company policies, procedures, and performance objectives. Promotes collaboration, accountability, and a positive team-oriented work environment while supporting organizational goals and customer service commitments.

KEY OBJECTIVES:

• Achieves continual process improvement. Focus on accuracy, expense management, and order processing schedule, throughput / flow management and Ambassador value proposition.
• Initiates rebalance moves that are required during the Campaign to improve order flow.
• Develops merchandise set-up in all operational areas to optimize picking efficiencies.
• Generates tasks to remove discontinued merchandise, and literature for each Campaign to maintain proper inventory space on the Shipping floor.
• Maintains database of key performance indicators including, pieces, orders, pieces picked by area, pieces picked by campaign, etc.
• Works with cross-functional team members to maintain accuracy of item data (i.e. merchandise attributes, weight, volume, dimensions, etc.)
• Responds to short-range inventory needs based on notification of special sales.
• Responds to low-inventory calls from shipping floor.
• Communicates daily product direction and service issues to team members and management.
• Partners closely with Deployment, Service and Planning teams at corporate office to ensure product availability.
• Works with IT to manually update availability of inventory on website when needed
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science/Arts degree preferred; Concentration in a Technical Discipline (Industrial Engineering, Logistics or Operations Management) desired.
  • Three to four years knowledge of order flow.
  • Proficient with functions in the Manhattan Active Warehouse Management (MAWM) and Knapp (WCS) Systems preferred.
  • Working knowledge of merchandise, finished stock code system, product size and product placement within the Order Fulfillment system.
  • Perform work requiring a high degree of accuracy.
  • Detailed planning, analytical skills and customer service priority.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Reads, writes and speaks English at the level required by the communication demands of the position with all levels of management.
  • Must have a proven high degree of accuracy as well as good customer service.
  • Solves problems with little supervision.
  • Interpret information and arrive at a logical conclusion or recommendation.
Language Skills:
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing at various levels, both internal and external to Avon.
Quantitative Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent basic math skills.
Reasoning/Problem Solving Ability:
  • Proven record of decision-making within the framework of changing business conditions.
  • Anticipates potential problems and initiates proactive actions.
