Step into a meaningful, contract-based opportunity supporting students as a Mental Health Specialist for the 2025/2026 school year. This high-impact role focuses on providing counseling and emotional support to general education students at the high school level, as well as delivering professional development and assisting with positive behavior initiatives across the school. You’ll be encouraged to apply a broad set of counseling and documentation skills within an environment that values collaboration and innovation.

Key Qualifications & Licensure:

  • Master’s degree required (client will not consider bachelor’s degrees)
  • Must hold one of the following licenses or credentials:
    • Licensed/limited licensed master’s level psychologist
    • MDE credentialed master’s level school psychologist
    • Licensed or limited licensed master’s level social worker
    • Licensed master’s level marriage and family therapist
    • Licensed/limited licensed master’s level professional counselor
    • School Counselor License (SCL)
    • Michigan Teaching Certificate with the School Counselor (NT) endorsement
    • Preliminary or Temporary School Counselor Credential (PSCC/TSCL) with intent to secure necessary professional counseling licensure within 24 months of hire
  • Proficiency in SOAP notes and electronic documentation
  • Comfortable using Google Suite for daily tasks and documentation

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct social and emotional counseling to general education students (individual and group)
  • Collaborate with faculty to implement positive behavior programs
  • Support building-wide initiatives, including professional learning for staff
  • Maintain electronic records according to professional and district standards
