Join the Arbor Day Foundation as Software Engineer on the Technology team to design, build, and support the applications, integrations, and platforms that power our mission. This role works across custom applications, web applications, services, databases, integrations, cloud technologies, and enterprise platforms to deliver secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable solutions. Software Engineers share common core responsibilities but may be assigned different primary applications, platforms, projects, or areas of expertise based on team and business needs. Your Support System: You'll report to Manager, Software Engineering You'll collaborate with business users, analysts, project managers, the business Intelligence team, fellow developers, and external partners to understand needs and deliver effective solutions. How we work: Location: Lincoln, Nebraska Schedule: In-office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday; optional remote work on Wednesday and Friday. What you'll do: Design, develop, and maintain applications, services, integrations, and APIs that support the Arbor Day Foundation's mission. Partner with business and technology teams to translate requirements and ideas into scalable, reliable software solutions. Build and support solutions using technologies such as C#,.NET, SQL Server, Azure, JavaScript, and enterprise platforms. Develop system integrations and data flows that securely connect Foundation applications and external partners. Troubleshoot and enhance existing applications, improving performance, usability, security, and reliability. Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support. Contribute to code reviews, technical standards, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts. Explore new technologies and recommend solutions that help the Foundation work more effectively and increase its impact. What you'll bring: Passion for the Foundation's mission, nature, environmental stewardship, and people 3+ years of experience of software development. Proficiency in C#,.NET, and SQL Server. Enjoys solving complex problems and building scalable solutions. Can translate business needs into reliable software and integrations. Communicates effectively and collaborates well across teams. Is eager to learn and grow within Microsoft technologies, Azure, Dynamics 365, and related platforms. You take ownership of work from planning through development, testing, deployment, and follow-up. You translate business needs into well-defined technical solutions that can be effectively planned and delivered. You build solutions that are secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable, not simply "done." You collaborate closely with teammates and business partners throughout the sprint to solve problems and keep work moving. You actively participate in sprint planning, estimation, demos, and retrospectives, helping the team continuously improve.
