Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Program Administrator, the Assistant helps plan, prepare, and disseminate information about Center programs through social media, the website, newsletters, and other digital channels. This role provides routine technical and audiovisual support for in‑person and virtual events, including afternoon and evening programs, under moderate to high levels of guidance and direction. This position may be based in Chicago or fulfilled remotely, with occasional off‑campus attendance at Center events as needed. This role develops competence by performing structured work assignments and using existing procedures to solve routine problems in social and digital media communications. Responsibilities Gathers and disseminates information about CSRPC programs, events, and initiatives through the internet, social media, and other digital channels, with moderate to high levels of guidance and direction. Videotapes and/or photographs Center events held both on and off campus, and assists with organizing and maintaining related media files. Manages routine updates to the Center’s YouTube and/or Vimeo channels, including uploading, titling, and organizing video content under established standards. Assists with updating media content across the Center’s website and social media platforms, ensuring information is accurate and timely, using existing templates and procedures. Supports event publicity efforts by helping to prepare and distribute physical and digital flyers and posters, and by posting approved content to relevant channels. Provides audiovisual and logistical support for live events, including Zoom meeting setup, recording, live‑streaming assistance, and onsite coordination for afternoon and evening events as directed. Assists with the production and distribution of the Center’s weekly newsletter, including basic content gathering, layout support, and mailing list maintenance. Provides general event support, including room setup, attendee registration, guest assistance, and post‑event breakdown. Helps design and compile the Center’s annual reports and other public‑facing documents by assisting with layout, basic data visualization, and image selection under the guidance of senior staff. Creates simple promotional materials for Center events and broader outreach campaigns, using approved branding and templates. Maintains existing digital and social media accounts, including routine website and social content maintenance, and may help identify new and emerging social media outlets for communicating with specific audiences. Gathers and disseminates information designed to keep the public informed of the organization’s programs, accomplishments, or point of view, with moderate to high levels of guidance and direction. Accomplishes assigned duties through two or more of the following: written communications; visual/graphic media, which may include Web site development and maintenance; speeches and personal contact. The incumbent is still acquiring higher‑level knowledge and skills. Performs other related work as needed. Minimum Qualifications Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field. Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through Certifications: --- Preferred Qualifications Experience: Background in social and digital media, marketing, communications, or a related field. Supporting events, including providing basic technical support for Zoom or similar platforms. Familiar with photography, video recording, or basic multimedia production in an academic, cultural, or community‑focused setting. Familiarity with social media platforms, such as Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, and Vimeo, and an interest in learning analytics and scheduling tools. Basic skills in video recording, photography, and simple editing tools. Familiarity with web content management systems and newsletter/email platforms, or willingness to learn. Introductory knowledge of layout and design tools and data visualization concepts. Preferred Competencies Strong attention to detail and willing to follow established workflows, templates, and procedures. Manage multiple assignments with guidance and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Creative mindset and open to contributing ideas while remaining receptive to feedback and direction from supervisors. Comfort working some afternoon and evening hours to support events. Work collaboratively with staff, faculty, and students. Operate effectively in both remote and on‑campus environments. Working Conditions Work on campus in Chicago and remotely, depending on project needs. Occasional evening and weekend work to support Center events. Occasional travel to off‑campus event sites for media coverage and event support. Carry light equipment such as cameras, tripods, and promotional materials.
