Pay: $18.00–$20.00 per hour + tips (based on experience)
About Us
We are a busy, family-owned Japanese restaurant looking for a dependable and experienced Sushi Chef to join our team. We take pride in serving fresh, high-quality sushi and providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi, including specialty rolls, hand rolls, nigiri, sashimi, and basic Japanese appetizers.
- Prepare and portion fish, seafood, vegetables, sauces, and other ingredients.
- Cook and season sushi rice to maintain consistency and quality.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and sanitary sushi station.
- Follow all food safety and health department standards.
- Monitor product freshness and minimize waste.
- Work efficiently during busy lunch and dinner service.
- Assist with daily prep, stocking, and cleaning duties.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and front-of-house team to ensure accurate and timely orders.
- Maintain high standards of presentation and consistency with every dish.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Sushi Chef or Sushi Cook preferred.
- Ability to prepare sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi with speed and consistency.
- Strong knife skills and knowledge of seafood handling.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
