Responsibilities

• Job Summary
  • Perform duties of a gastroenterologist, providing evidence‑based care to designated patients in office, inpatient, and outpatient settings.
  • Accountable for quality measures and maintain communication with referring physicians to ensure continuity of care.
• Clinical and Regulatory Compliance
  • Practice gastroenterology using established quality standards.
  • Participate in the call schedule for Thompson Peak and Shea campuses.
  • Collaborate with administration to develop GI outpatient clinics, laboratories, and expand services.
  • Develop treatment protocols, clinical pathways, quality standards and best practices for inpatient and outpatient GI care.
  • Help establish standards for accepting patients into the GI service.
  • Engage in peer review processes and mandatory committees.
  • Meet with consulting and referring physicians to improve communication processes.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director for fiscal accountability and expansion initiatives.
  • Adhere to EMTALA regulations, HonorHealth bylaws, documentation standards, and patient safety indicators.
• Leadership
  • Participate in recruitment and retention of physicians.
  • Mentor physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other health‑care professionals.
  • Create a professional climate and support organizational vision and values.
  • Attend departmental committee meetings.
• Education
  • Plan and facilitate educational programs in gastroenterology.
  • Assist with mandatory CME planning as mandated by the Medical Director.
  • Participate in education of residents, medical students, nurses, and ancillary staff.
• Research
  • Engage in research activities to improve quality of care.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President for Research and the Medical Director to identify research opportunities.

Must Have Qualifications

• Mandatory Education – Graduate of an accredited Internal Medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship.
• Mandatory Experience – Recent direct acute‑care clinical experience.
• Mandated Licenses / Certifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – mandatory.
  • Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Internal Medicine and gastroenterology.
