Psychiatric Nurse
We are seeking a Registered Nurse specializing in psychiatric nursing for a 25-bed acute inpatient unit. The position requires staffing a minimum of 5 personnel for 18-25 patients and 4 personnel for 11-17 patients. Responsibilities include charge nurse duties, admissions oversight, and administering medications. Nurses are trained across multiple roles on the unit. All staff take patient assignments, conduct rounds, take vital signs, and facilitate patient care and groups. The patient population primarily consists of individuals with acute psychiatric presentations, including depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Emergency medical issues will be addressed by calling emergency services and transferring patients to the nearest hospital if necessary. Restraints should only be used as a last resort when de-escalation techniques are ineffective. Nursing staff manage all restraint situations, with security available for backup during escalations. The uniform policy requires navy blue scrubs.
