General Production Worker

Job Title: General Production Worker Job Description

Join our team as a General Production Worker at our facility in Iowa City. You will be involved in the process of mixing and pelletizing raw products, followed by bagging them for shipment. This role requires cross-training across main production areas to ensure a smooth workflow.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the efficiency of the production line to ensure timely loading and shipment.

• Be a reliable team member with prompt attendance and excellent performance.

• Communicate with team members and leadership to improve processes.

• Keep the worksite clean to avoid hazards from chemicals and fragile products.

• Strictly adhere to safety guidelines throughout the facility.

• Perform all processes in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures, including operating mixing, bagging, spray drying, fluid bed drying, and powered lift equipment.

Essential Skills

• Experience with hand tools and manufacturing.

• 6+ months experience in agriculture and/or manufacturing settings.

• Mechanical background, basic math skills, and ability to follow instructions.

• Primary responsibility for 2nd shift is running the control room; computer skills are preferred or a willingness to learn.

• Experience in machine operation and troubleshooting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• AG or feed mill experience is preferred.

• Forklift experience is a nice-to-have but not required.

Work Environment

The work takes place in a feed mill processing plant that is non-climate controlled, which can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The facility is dirty and has old machinery that requires manual adjustments. The production floor houses 15 people. The dress code includes long pants and shirts, hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, and ear protection. Shifts are as follows: 1st - 6 AM to 2:30 PM, 2nd - 2 PM to 10:30 PM, and 3rd - 10 PM to 6:30 AM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Iowa City, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
