Job Summary

The Facilities Custodian keeps the buildings on the Kinston campus in clean and orderly condition while performing heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash. Duties include performing routine cleaning activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalk as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Service, clean, or supply restrooms.
• Clean building floors by sweeping mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Gather and remove trash.
• Operate vehicles or powered equipment, such as forklifts and floor scrubbers.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Assist with cleaning inventory and paperwork.
• Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays as needed.
• Perform other duties and or special projects as assigned by the customer service agent.

Work Environment

• Mostly indoor office environment (roughly 70%) and some outside work (roughly 30%)
• Typical outdoor and industrial/hangar environments.
• Some exposure extreme temperatures are to be expected

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or Equivalent
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States, must provide two forms of Federal Identification.
• Candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check prior to employment. This includes verification of previous employment, education, criminal history, and any other relevant information necessary to determine the suitability for the position.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 to 3 years custodial work
