Mechanical Engineer Full Time Professional Taunton, MA, US 5 days ago Requisition ID: 1086 Salary Range: $80,000.00 To $105,000.00 Annually This is an entry or early career level position working under ISO certified design and development procedures with the expectation that as skills develop, the Mechanical Engineer (ME) will take on more responsibility and more complex projects. The ME will coordinate and, as skills develop, independently handle projects for product (motor, gearing, encoder, and electronics) combinations and custom modifications requested by customers through Maxon Sales Engineers. These projects will vary in scope from simple modifications to existing product (for example welding pinions to shafts), to large organic design projects (for example subsystems for medical devices), which involve the integration of maxon technology to create a mechatronic system. On larger Phase Gate projects, the ME will generally work on a project team under the direction of a project manager who will act as a mentor. The ME will be exposed to all aspects of the product development process and may be responsible for any of them. These include: Initial assessment, quoting, interpreting customer requests into engineering specifications, engineering design and drawings, working with and sourcing vendors, prototyping, testing, documenting, statistical analysis, developing test protocols and fixtures (hardware and software), designing packaging, writing work instructions and coordination with/handoff to Quality and Manufacturing teams. Design reviews and brainstorms are commonplace, and the expectation is the ME will learn to lead many of these meetings. This is a hands-on role where you will have the opportunity and expectation to get into the Engineering Lab and on-site machine shop to fabricate/assemble prototypes, utilize 3D printers, and perform testing. E SSENTIAL F UNCTIONS

Involvement in all aspects of mechanical design work Understands and respond to customer requests, both verbal and written Designs product to meet all requirements Generate and execute test plans and prototypes Manage several projects at one time Prepare engineering estimates and schedules Cooperate with Electrical engineers, process engineers, supply chain, logistic, quality and planning in a close goal orientated teamwork Prepare CAD models and engineering drawings, utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) as needed Work with an ERP system. Be responsible for building up the product structure and defining and maintain the characteristics of components and assemblies Interface with Sales Engineers to determine all relevant requirements and constraints In conjunction with Manufacturing team, determine appropriate site for production, conduct design-for- manufacture sessions, and assist in creation of manufacturing instructions and tooling as needed In conjunction with Quality team, determine documentation, inspection, and qualification needs Work to continuously improve processes

C OMPETENCIES

Strong analytical and engineering technical skills CAD (Creo/ProE preferred) Strong technology background (rapid prototyping, injection molding, sintering, stamping, ..etc) CAE skills (drive elements gears, couplers, lead screws, etc.) Work in and with databases (PLM, ERP, CAQ, ..etc.) Ability to model and explain physical and engineering concepts in terms of First Principles Familiarity with the basics of GD&T Time Management Strong interpersonal communication skills Required Education And Experiences Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering. 0-5 years of experience.

This job operates in a professional, dynamic office environment and regularly utilizes state-of-the-art technology including computers with high-speed internet access, AI, smartphones with various communication apps, cloud-connected multifunction printers, and digital filing systems. These tools facilitate efficient and remote collaboration, reflecting the evolving nature of office environments in the digital age. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to factory areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment. There will also be times where you work in an electromechanical lab environment, utilizing electrical and mechanical test equipment such as force gauges, power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, dynamometers, microscopes, et al. You may also be asked to make minor modifications in a machine shop, using standard equipment (manual mill, lathe, drill press) under guidance of shop staff or senior engineers.
