Must-Have:
- 2 years of ICU experience, or 1 year of ICU and 1 year of PCU/Med Surg from larger facilities.
- Ability to titrate drips for sedation, vasopressors, and insulin.


Description:
Profile review and manager interview required.
Clinician must take and pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts.
If clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, there will be a six-month do-not-utilize status.
Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius.
Candidates may not have been full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated within the past year.
Unit has a total of 10 beds.
Ratios depend on acuity: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, MST 1:5-6.
If no nurse aide is available, RNs will take 3 patients and provide primary care to PCU & MST patients.
Common diagnoses include sepsis, suicide attempts, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, COVID, DKA, and post-operative complications.
Non-titratable infusions to maintain heart rate or blood pressure are common in the PCU.
RNs must take 12-lead EKGs and monitor patients using bedside cardiac monitors.
There is a holiday rotation to distribute holidays fairly.
Staff rotates standby turns if there is a low census.
RNs may float to other designated units to maintain competency.
Scrub colors are flexible except for camouflage.
Unit orientation based on specific protocols will be required.
Charting system used is Cerner.
