Job Opportunity: Critical Care Surgeon (In-Residence)

Our organization is currently looking for a full-time Critical Care Surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level within the Department of Surgery. This role offers a unique chance to engage in the education of residents and medical students while contributing to the advancement of our Critical Care/Surgery program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver clinical services, engage in teaching, and conduct clinical research.
• As part of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), provide care for surgical patients in a closed critical care environment, reporting directly to the Chair of Surgery.
• Conduct consultations and admit surgical patients to the hospital, while also offering outpatient care, under the guidance of the Chair of the Department of Surgery.
• Assist in the administration and leadership of the Critical Care Unit as needed, in collaboration with the ICU Director.
• Support the development of a Level 3 trauma center at the hospital, as directed by the Chair of Surgery.
• Help establish protocols and clinical pathways for emergency general surgical services, including a follow-up clinic for Emergency General Surgery and Trauma.
• Ensure adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
• Supervise and train Critical Care Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) and Surgery Physician Assistants (PAs).
• Instruct medical students, residents, and fellows at the hospital and outpatient clinic.
• Engage in research and scholarly activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Completion of a Surgery Residency.
• Board certified or eligible in Surgical Critical Care.
• Board certified or eligible in Surgery.

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least one year of fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care.
