Receiving InspectorThe Receiving Inspector ensures that incoming mechanical parts meet all inspection plans and drawing requirements, while maintaining accurate records and supporting inventory and material flow. This role combines hands-on inspection, shipping and receiving activities, and close collaboration with quality and materials teams to keep production running smoothly and accurately.ResponsibilitiesFollow documented mechanical inspection process instructions to evaluate incoming mechanical parts.Verify that mechanical parts meet all inspection plan and drawing requirements before acceptance.Document and communicate part rejection reasons in accordance with the material review board (MRB) process.Process shortages and urgent parts ahead of other workload to support production and customer needs.Systematically maintain accurate inspection and receiving records using appropriate systems and tools.Expedite shortages and high-priority items within the mechanical inspection area to minimize delays.Move accepted and inspected material to the stockroom or designated storage locations as needed.Support shipping and receiving activities, including packaging, labeling, and material handling tasks.Assist with inventory control activities, including verifying counts, updating records, and identifying discrepancies.Perform other duties as defined by department management to support quality assurance and material flow.Essential SkillsHands-on experience with mechanical inspection of parts against inspection plans and engineering drawings.Proficiency in quality inspection and quality control practices for incoming materials.Experience in shipping and receiving operations, including handling inbound and outbound materials.Ability to perform accurate inventory control, including record keeping and discrepancy identification.Material handling skills, including safely moving, lifting, and staging parts and boxes.Ability to perform Excel data entry or similar basic data entry tasks for inspection and receiving records.Capability to work on your feet and/or seated for extended periods of time (68 hours per day).Ability to repeatedly lift 3050 lb boxes safely as part of daily duties.Attention to detail and accuracy when inspecting, documenting, and recording information.Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, shortages, and urgent items.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in quality assurance environments supporting mechanical or manufacturing operations.Background in packaging and packing of mechanical parts or industrial components.Familiarity with shipping and receiving documentation and basic logistics processes.Comfort working with standardized work instructions and documented inspection processes.Ability to communicate clearly with cross-functional teams regarding nonconforming parts and shortages.Why Work Here?You will join a quality-focused environment where your attention to detail and reliability directly support smooth production and customer satisfaction. The work involves frequent material handling, movement of parts between inspection and stockroom areas, and use of basic computer tools, including Excel, for data entry and record keeping. You can expect a structured setting with documented mechanical inspection procedures, organized inventory areas, and a focus on accuracy, safety, and efficient material flow.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Morgan Hill, CA.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
