Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

The Clinical Director is responsible for providing 24-hour management of all clinical functions of the facility and overseeing the entire admission process and/or clinical intake process. He/she is also responsible for providing effective leadership to the clinical staff, has knowledge of the organization, provides marketing support for the facility, and directs all activities within the facility in accordance with standards of State and Federal regulations.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or health-related field.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience.

A minimum of 5 years' experience in an applicable field.

Familiarity with Joint Commission standards. Must have two years of sobriety prior to hire, if recovering from a substance use disorder and participate in a self-help program.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

Obtain a CAQH and/or NPI within two weeks of start date OR obtain within two weeks of receipt date if licensure is received after start date.

Florida Requirements

Substance Use

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LADC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with an active and unrestricted license.

Mental Health

Florida Statutes Chapter 491 : Governs LCSW, LMHC, and LMFT. These licenses are required for independent clinical practice and supervision in mental health settings. LADC Cannot be used as a substitute for LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, or Psychologist for clinical director roles

Maine Requirements

Substance Use

1. A Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), or a:

a. Registered Nurse certified as a Psychiatric Nurse,

b. Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with appropriate specialization certification,

c. Medical Doctor (M.D.),

d. Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.),

e. Licensed Clinical Psychologist,

f. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW),

g. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or

h. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

2. Any individual with a credential listed in Section J (1) (a-h) above may be employed as clinical staff in a substance use disorder program only when that individual has completed one (1) year clinical experience in substance abuse treatment and a minimum of sixty (60) hours of alcohol and drug education within the last five (5) years.

3. Education accepted by the Department includes, but is not limited to, training and continuing education approved by the Maine State Board of Alcohol and Drug Counselors, 02-384 CMR Chapters 1-9.

4. Any of the credentials listed in Section J (1) (a-h) above may forego additional education hours and experience if they possess a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) credential

Mental Health

An active and unrestricted license of the following:

a. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

b. Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC)

c. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

d. Licensed Psychologist

e. Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC)

f. Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)

g. Psychiatric Nurse (RN/APRN)

h. Medical Doctor (M.D.)

i. Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.)

New Jersey Requirement

Substance Use

1. Be a New Jersey licensed psychologist with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who possesses a Certification of Proficiency in the Treatment of Alcohol and other Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders from the American Psychological Association, College of Professional Psychology, or is a Certified Clinical Supervisor by the Addictions Professionals Certification Board of New Jersey (APCBNJ),

2. Be a New Jersey licensed clinical social worker with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who is a certified clinical supervisor by the APCBNJ,

3. Be a New Jersey licensed professional counselor, or licensed marriage and family therapist, with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who is a certified clinical supervisor by the APCBNJ,

4. Be a New Jersey LCADC with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who, in addition, holds a clinical master's degree recognized by the State Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners, Alcohol and Drug Committee, Division of Consumer Affairs, New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety.

5. Be a New Jersey licensed physician who is certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, or is a Board-certified psychiatrist, and has at least two years of supervisory experience in addiction services; N.J.A.C. 10:161A-1.8

6. Be a New Jersey licensed advanced practice nurse with at least five years of experience in addiction services, two of those years in a supervisory capacity, who is a clinical supervisor certified by the APCBNJ, or 7. Have a doctoral degree in human services, mental health or social work with at least two years of supervisory experience.

Mental Health

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Psychologist, Psychiatrist (MD/DO), APN (Psychiatric) with five years' experience in mental health services with two years supervisory experience. [N.J.A.C. 10:37E-2.6 (b)]

New Hampshire Requirements

Substance Use

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) with an active and unrestricted license. Additional certifications in addiction treatment, such as Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) or Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS), may be preferred.

Mental Health

Active, unrestricted, and issued by the New Hampshire Board of Mental Health Practice license in the following:

a. Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC)

b.Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)

c.Licensed Psychologist

d.Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)

e.Licensed Pastoral Psychotherapist

Colorado Requirements

Substance Use

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), with an active and unrestricted license. Additional certifications in addiction treatment, such as Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) or Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS), may be preferred.

Mental Health

Active, unrestricted, and issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) license in the following:

a.Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

b.Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

c.Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC)

d.Licensed Marriage and Family
