As a School Health Aide, you will assist in the support of the instructional program by creating a climate of health and well-being in the school and by addressing the health needs of the school, consistent with the goals set forth by CSUSA.How You Will Impact EducationProvide basic healthcare to students and staffPerform health screeningsServe as liaisons between school personnel, family, and community healthcare providers to ensure a healthy school environmentServing as consultants with other school professionals, such as food service personnel, physical education teachers, coaches, and counselorsProviding health-related education to students and staff in both individual and group settingsMonitoring immunizations, managing communicable diseases, and assessing the school environment as to prevent injury and ensure safetyOverseeing infection control measuresActively participating in school safety plans that address school violence, bullying, and emergencies that may occur at schoolOverseeing medication administration, health care procedures, and the development of healthcare plansOverseeing vision, hearing, body mass index, and mental health screening proceduresMaking decisions related to the delegation of healthcare tasks as directed by state laws and professional practice guidanceProviding health advice to school educational teams, such as the Committee on Special Education and the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) teamRequired Qualifications and SkillsSchool softwareAnswering phonesInteracting with all school stakeholdersAttention to detailTime managementStrong verbal and written communicationClinical duties:take vital signscollect patient medical history and informationprepare and clean clinic areasprepare and administer medicationslog patient visits and keep appropriate recordsproperly dispose of waste and contaminated materialsAdministrative duties:answer phonesfollow-up with patients regarding questionslog patient informationcreate and manage school health recordstrack and order suppliesJob RequirementsCPR CertifiedCNA Certification, LPA License or College Education preferred.Minimum of 1-year successful experience as a nurse's assistant or clinical assistant (preferred).Such alternatives to the above requirements as CSUSA may find appropriate and acceptable.May perform other duties assigned.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment characteristics listed below are representative of the environment the employee will encounter:Usual office working conditions.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
