Travel RN - Operating Room

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a teaching hospital, requiring CA RN license, BSN, and prior travel assignment experience.

Job Details

• Operating Room unit within a teaching hospital setting,
• Handles Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (OHNS), Craniotomy, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS), Plastic Surgery, Dental Surgery, and combined Neurosurgery/OHNS procedures,
• Performs open and endoscopic surgical cases including free flap reconstructive procedures,
• Additional experience with liver, kidney, and neuro transplant cases, as well as spine and vascular procedures,
• Utilizes the Da Vinci Xi robotic surgical system,
• 1:1 patient ratio,
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM),
• Ability to float to other UCSF facilities within a 75+ mile radius as needed,
• Uses Epic charting system,

Job Requirements

• Active CA RN license required,
• BSN required,
• Current AHA BLS certification required,
• Minimum 3 years of experience required,
• Previous travel assignment experience required,
• Previous charge experience required,
• Teaching hospital experience required,
• Scrub and circulate skills required,
• Epic charting system experience required,
• ACLS and CNOR certifications preferred,
• 2 references from most recent employer required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Provide perioperative nursing care across a wide range of surgical specialties including vascular, gynecology, plastics, neurology, cardiovascular, general surgery, endoscopic, robotics, urology, ENT, bariatrics, transplant, thoracic, and podiatry procedures,
• Perform key professional duties such as administration of blood and blood products, infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (time out) procedures, and urinary bladder catheterization,
• Operate specialized equipment including cell saver, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Steris systems,
• Respond to emergency situations including code response, fire safety, latex allergy protocols, and malignant hyperthermia management,
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travel positions,
• Any prior employment with a University of California medical facility or its acquired facilities must be disclosed for a rehire eligibility check,
• Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit,
• RTO must be disclosed at time of submission and approved by the manager; no additional requests accepted mid-contract, and RTO cannot fall within the first two weeks of the assignment
