Newborn Hearing Screen Technician - Part Time

About the role Join us in making a difference in the early detection of hearing loss in newborns as a Newborn Hearing Screen Technician. As a newborn hearing screen technician, you will provide hearing screens in the hospital after a baby is born, working on-site at one or more hospital locations to screen newborns for hearing loss. You will receive on-the-job training and annual certification accredited by the American Academy of Audiology. Responsibilities Comply with all company and facility policies and procedures including PPE, required vaccinations, safety protocols, orientations, and annual compliance modules. Evaluate each patient for “screen readiness” before performing a screen; screen only those in the appropriate state (fed, quiet, calm). Collect all necessary data and demographics for each baby. Perform the hearing screen and related services on all eligible babies during each shift and document per protocol. Treat each screened baby and family with appropriate care and consideration. Upload all screen results, billing, and state reporting by the end of each shift and ensure statistics are complete and reconciled. Perform screens efficiently and follow the process to minimize time in the patient room while maintaining quality and patient education. Ensure all relevant information is provided to the responsible party and that parents/guardians receive proper education about the screening results. Notify Site Supervisor of all missed and final refer babies. Schedule outpatient appointments for refer babies, where appropriate. Perform any other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Current CPR certification, or must obtain upon offer. Flexibility to work weekends and national holidays. Preferred Experience Entry level – 1 to 3 months of previous experience with newborns in a medical setting. Skills & Abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Maintain confidentiality. Prioritize daily tasks and assignments. Work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work weekends and national holidays. Frequent lifting/moving up to 25 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs. Stand and walk frequently (95% of shift). Push/pull up to 100 lbs frequently. Sensitivity when speaking to family and handling patients. Computer proficiency and accurate data entry. Compensation The pay for this position ranges from $17.25 to $21.10 per hour, based on years of relevant experience.
