Surgical Assistant I

Job Location: Fairfield Oral Surgery & Implantology, Fairfield, CA Job Title: Oral Surgical Assistant I Job Type: Fulltime Summary: We are looking for a Surgical Assistant to join our growing practice. To be successful as an oral surgery assistant, you should be highly organized and attentive to patients' needs. Surgical Responsibilities Assist Surgeon during consultations and treatment. Basic lab duties (Impressions, pouring up/trimming models). Proper instrument cleaning in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols. Autoclave operation and function. Surgical tray set-up. Identification of instruments used in the clinic. Room set up/break down for IV anesthesia and surgery. Seat patient and perform pre‑op set‑up. Review charts. Nitrous oxide set‑up. Properly positioning restraints. Support airway for sedated patients. Ability to circulate and retrieve instruments. Excellent patient care & communication. Non‑Surgical Responsibilities Restock supplies, forms, handouts, and rooms. Take vital signs. Familiar with all forms and handouts (procedure‑based, consent forms, etc.) Aware of and in compliance with OSHA requirements (e.g. personal protection) Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, filing, and charting. Make follow‑up phone calls to patients. May take X‑Rays. Properly close and open the office each day (Tanks, Suction, Xray) Greet patients and make them feel comfortable. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Current CPR/BLS certification required, may be able to obtain once hired. Dental X‑ray license (Pano, PA, CBCT) required, may be able to obtain once hired. Great organizational and time management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances. Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude. Preferred Qualifications Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program preferred. Certification as a Surgical Assistant preferred. Schedule Monday to Thursday 8 AM‑5 PM Friday 8 AM‑2 PM Some Saturdays 7:00 AM‑2:00 PM Benefits 401(k) Matching Dental Insurance Health Insurance Life Insurance Referral Program Vision Insurance Special Requirements Working in the office is an essential part of the job function. Must be willing to travel and will be reimbursed for time of travel and mileage. Must be able to stand up to 80% of the time at minimum. Physical requirements include driving, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time.
