Kitchen/Site Support Aide Department: Head Start Employment Type: Full Time Location: East Providence - Turner Reporting To: Elizabeth Peloso Compensation: $17.00 - $22.00 / hour Description Bring organization, care, and teamwork to a role that keeps our early childhood programs running smoothly. As a Kitchen/Site Support Aide, you will play a critical role in supporting daily operations—ensuring meals are handled safely, environments stay organized, and classrooms and front office functions receive the support they need to thrive. The Kitchen/Site Support Aide is responsible for managing meal service operations in compliance with food safety regulations while supporting overall site functionality. This role ensures food is received, handled, and distributed appropriately, maintains a clean and organized kitchen space, and provides flexible assistance across classrooms and front desk operations as needed. Key Responsibilities Food and Kitchen Operations Receive and verify food deliveries, including substitutions and menu adjustments Monitor and document food temperatures and expiration dates Prepare and deliver meals, utensils, and supplies to classrooms Collect, clean, and store dishes, trays, and kitchen equipment Maintain kitchen cleanliness through routine daily, weekly, and monthly sanitation tasks Keep equipment such as dishwashers, refrigerators, and food warmers clean and functional Site and Program Support Provide front desk coverage when needed, including answering phones and greeting families Assist classrooms during non-meal periods, supporting supervision and activities Participate in required trainings and professional development opportunities Attend occasional recruitment events outside regular hours Perform additional duties as assigned to support overall site operations Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Clear communication and collaborative teamwork Customer service approach when interacting with families and staff Flexibility and willingness to support different areas of the site Dependability and professionalism in daily responsibilities Knowledge and Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred Ability to obtain a Food Safety Certification within 3–6 months of hire Understanding of (or willingness to learn) food safety standards and childcare regulations Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, and moving throughout the facility Comfort using basic office and kitchen equipment Bilingual or bicultural candidates are encouraged to apply Benefits For Full-Time Employees Working 30-40 hours per week, EBCAP offers: Subsidized, comprehensive medical (BCBSRI) and dental (Delta Dental) insurance plans Supplemental vision insurance (Delta Dental) Voluntary medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts Up to 3% matching 403(b) retirement plan Employer-paid life insurance & long-term disability Generous paid time off including vacation, holidays, personal days, and sick time Mileage reimbursement Tuition reimbursement Employer-paid professional development Employee assistance program #J-18808-Ljbffr East Bay Community Action Program
