Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer

LogiSync designs embedded systems that enable industrial and mission-critical products to sense, communicate, decide, and act.

For more than 30 years, we have helped OEMs develop firmware, electronics, controls, communications, and connected products. We are now expanding our engineering team and building reusable embedded platforms that can move from customer requirements through production.

We are hiring a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to take technical ownership of complex firmware programs.

This is not a narrow programming role. You will help define architecture, develop production-quality firmware, bring up new hardware, estimate work, identify risks, mentor other engineers, and drive projects through validation and release.

What You’ll Do

• Architect, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for customer and internal product programs.
• Own firmware workstreams from requirements and estimation through implementation, integration, validation, and release.
• Develop device drivers, board-support packages, bootloaders, hardware-abstraction layers, communications stacks, and application firmware.
• Build systems using bare-metal architectures, real-time operating systems, and embedded Linux where appropriate.
• Lead firmware bring-up on new PCB assemblies and diagnose hardware-software integration issues.
• Translate product requirements into technical architectures, work plans, estimates, milestones, and validation strategies.
• Identify scope, schedule, integration, and technical risks early and communicate them clearly.
• Design firmware for reliability, diagnostics, maintainability, security, and long product lifecycles.
• Debug complex systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, protocol analyzers, and other laboratory equipment.
• Review code and technical designs, mentor engineers, and improve development standards across the team.
• Work directly with customers, hardware engineers, project leaders, test teams, and manufacturing partners.
• Help create reusable firmware libraries, reference architectures, and configurable product platforms.

Required Experience

• Approximately 7 or more years of professional embedded firmware or embedded software development experience.
• Advanced proficiency in embedded C and strong working knowledge of C++.
• Experience developing firmware for ARM Cortex-M or comparable microcontroller architectures.
• Strong experience with bare-metal systems and real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX, VxWorks, or similar.
• Experience with device drivers, interrupts, DMA, timers, clocks, watchdogs, bootloaders, memory-constrained systems, and real-time applications.
• Experience with embedded interfaces and protocols such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, USB, Ethernet, GPIO, ADC, and PWM.
• Demonstrated experience bringing up firmware on custom hardware.
• Ability to read schematics, datasheets, timing diagrams, and hardware specifications.
• Hands‑on experience debugging embedded systems using laboratory instrumentation.
• Experience with Git, code reviews, defect tracking, testing, and disciplined release practices.
• Demonstrated ability to estimate work, communicate risks, and deliver against commitments.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Valuable Additional Experience

• Embedded Linux, Linux device drivers, Yocto, or Buildroot.
• STM32, NXP, Nordic, Texas Instruments, Microchip, Renesas, or similar platforms.
• Industrial communications such as Modbus, CANopen, EtherCAT, RS-485, or industrial Ethernet.
• Bluetooth Low Energy, Wi‑Fi, cellular, LoRa, or proprietary wireless systems.
• Secure boot, signed firmware, encryption, authentication, and over‑the‑air updates.
• Motor control, power electronics, battery systems, sensors, controls, or data acquisition.
• Automated testing, hardware‑in‑the‑loop testing, static analysis, and CI/CD.
• Safety‑critical, regulated, industrial, defense, medical, automotive, or aerospace systems.
• Supporting products from prototype through production, certification, and field deployment.
