Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma PACU position requiring critical care/ICU or Level I Trauma PACU experience and MO or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in the PACU at the Center for Advanced Medicine, a Level I Trauma teaching hospital
• Provide Pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II post-anesthesia care
• Approximately 85% of patients are same day surgery cases requiring rapid pace and flexibility
• Manage complex postoperative patients including multiple drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia
• Pre-op ratios of 1:2 and 1:3, PACU ratios of 1:2 and 1:3
• Day shift, 4x10 hour schedule, mixing 9:00am-7:30pm and 10:00am-8:30pm shifts, Monday through Friday
• No weekend requirement
• On-call requirement of 24 hours per 6-week scheduling period
• Closed on nights, holidays, and weekends
• Float within service line as needed to meet facility needs
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Minimum 1 year of critical care/ICU experience or Level I Trauma Center PACU experience required
• Must pass Relias EKG exam covering interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in EKG rhythm analysis, transfusion, blood drawing, and IV starts required
• Experience with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia required
• Competency in both pre-op and post-op patient care required

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility, as no local candidates are accepted
• RTO limited to no more than 7 days per contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
• Permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
• Navy scrub color required
• Facial hair must allow for proper respirator fit testing or must be shaved
• All staff RNs are expected to be competent in both pre- and post-op care due to high patient turnover
