Team Description The Resiliency Intelligence team helps our customers regain financial stability and drive business value through personalized solutions at scale. This is crucially important for customers that encounter financial hardship and need personalized resources to resolve outstanding balances. We use supervised and reinforcement learning models to predict customer needs and recommend optimal solutions, write custom Python libraries, and use open‑source ML libraries such as XGBoost, scikit‑learn, and statsmodels. Our models define the treatment for millions of customers daily, and the code you produce will run in analytical and production environments. Role Description Partner with a cross‑functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver a product customers love Leverage a broad stack of technologies—including Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more—to reveal the insights hidden within huge volumes of numeric and textual data Build machine learning models through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation Translate the complexity of your work into tangible business goals Ideal Candidate Creative: you thrive on bringing definition to big, undefined problems, ask questions, and push hard to find answers Technical: comfortable with open‑source languages, passionate about developing further, hands‑on experience building data science solutions using open‑source tools and cloud computing platforms Statistically‑minded: built models, validated and backtested them, interpret a confusion matrix or ROC curve, experience with clustering, classification, sentiment analysis, time series, and deep learning Data guru: “big data” doesn’t faze you, skilled at retrieving, combining, and analyzing data from a variety of sources and structures Basic Qualifications Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date: A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field) plus 2 years of experience performing data analytics A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) or PhD in a STEM field At least 1 year of experience working with AWS At least 2 years’ experience in Python, Scala, or R At least 2 years’ experience with machine learning At least 2 years’ experience with SQL Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position. McLean, VA: $135,600 - $154,800 for Senior Associate, Data Science. This role is also eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives (LTI).
