Temporary Public Benefits Coordinator - Quincy CJSC

Description Bay State Community Services (BSCS) is seeking a compassionate, organized, and resourceful Temporary Public Benefits Coordinator to join our team at the Quincy Community Justice Support Center (CJSC) . The Public Benefits Coordinator works directly with individuals served by the CJSC to help them identify, apply for, and maintain access to public benefits and community resources. This position plays an important role in reducing barriers to stability by helping participants navigate complex benefit systems and connect with essential services. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in human services, case management, benefits navigation, or community-based services who enjoys helping individuals access the resources they need. What You Will Be Doing to Make a Difference... Conduct intake interviews with Support Center clients to ascertain essential needs such as housing, food, healthcare, and personal finance. Receive information from actuarial risk/needs assessment tools to assist in determining client essential needs. Within a Counselor Designated Organization (CDO), be, or become a Certified Application Coordinator to submit electronic benefits applications to MassHealth. Under the auspices of the vendor organization, access DTA Connect to submit electronic benefits applications to SNAP for the client. Have a mastery of eligibility requirements for SSI and SSDI and support eligible clients in their application for SSI or SSDI benefits. Have a mastery of eligibility requirements for veterans benefits and support eligible clients in their application for such benefits. Engage in continuing outreach to state agencies to develop the latest information about benefits programs. Engage in community outreach, as needed, to develop leads on benefit programs, whether public or private, to address unmet essential needs of clients. Cross train in actuarial assessment tools for risk/need, treatment planning, and contingency management protocols as needed. Assist with urine collection; follow and maintain Chain of Custody Assist with breath alcohol testing; follow breath alcohol testing protocol This role is not eligible for standard BSCS benefits. This role is temporary and the assignment is scheduled to end on November 30, 2026. Requirements Qualifications/Credentials Associates Degree in Human Services related field required At least one year of experience engaging in case management activities Strong Computer Skills Valid MA driver’s license acceptable driving record, reliable transportation and proof of insurance Acceptable background record check as required by program Bay State Community Services is an equal opportunity employer.
