Python Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Python Backend Engineer to support a client building complex, datadriven applications. This role will focus on designing, extending, and stabilizing backend services that power analytics, optimization, and decisionsupport systems in a cloudbased production environment.
Design, build, and maintain backend services using Python and FastAPI
Develop and consume REST APIs, integrating with internal and external platforms
Translate data science models and optimization logic into scalable backend services
Work within an existing codebase to enhance functionality, improve stability, and resolve issues
Collaborate closely with Data Science and Analytics teams
Ensure backend services are productionready, with proper error handling, logging, and performance awareness
Support deployments in AWS environments and work within existing CI/CD pipelines
Document system architecture, integrations, and data flows
Proactively communicate progress, risks, and blockers while working independently

Required Skills & Experience

Strong backend engineering experience with Python (FastAPI)
Solid experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
Background working on complex, datadriven systems (analytics, simulators, optimization, or decision support)
Experience supporting applications in AWS production environments
Understanding of engineering best practices (logging, error handling, performance)
Basic DevOps awareness (CI/CD pipelines, deployments, production diagnostics)
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently


Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Exposure to Dataiku DSS or similar data science execution platforms
Experience in pharma, life sciences, or commercial analytics environments
