MIG /Stick Welder

This role focuses on performing high-quality MIG and Stick welding on steel components while accurately reading and interpreting blueprints and weld symbols. You will complete a MIG weld test, set up welding equipment, and work with a range of steel thicknesses to support the production of pavement preservation products and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and Stick welding on steel materials ranging from 20-gauge to 5/8 inch thickness.
• Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols to determine weld locations, specifications, and techniques.
• Set up MIG welding machines after they are zeroed out, ensuring proper settings for the required welds.
• Complete and pass a basic MIG flat welding test as part of the hiring process.
• Measure and verify materials using a tape measure to ensure accuracy before and after welding.
• Follow established welding procedures and safety guidelines to produce consistent, high-quality welds.
• Collaborate with team members and other departments as needed to support production and cross-training initiatives.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and care for tools and equipment used in welding operations.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in MIG welding, including the ability to perform flat welds on steel from 20-gauge to 5/8 inch.
• Experience with Stick welding on steel components.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols accurately.
• Capability to set up and adjust MIG welding machines after they are zeroed out.
• Ability to read and use a tape measure with precision.
• Entry-level welding experience is acceptable when supported by relevant schooling or formal training.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Formal schooling or vocational training in welding or a related trade.
• Willingness to cross-train into other departments and learn multiple trades.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds.

Work Environment

The role is based in a modern manufacturing setting that produces a wide range of packaged pavement preservation products for asphalt and concrete, including hot-applied crack sealants, silicone joint sealants, hot-applied mastics, and cold-mix materials for surface patching and repair. The company also designs and manufactures specialized equipment such as melter/applicators for heating and placing sealants and fillers, crack preparation equipment, spray injection patching equipment for pothole and void repair, patchers for hot-applied mastics, and sealcoat applicators. Work is performed in an industrial production environment with welding stations and heavy equipment, where adherence to safety procedures and appropriate protective attire is expected.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chandler, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
