Ophthalmic Technician

Description: We are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our patient care team. Our ideal candidate has previous experience as an ophthalmic assistant or technician. However, we are willing to provide on-the-job training and experience to the right candidate. In this role, your primary tasks are to take medical histories from patients, dilate their eyes to prepare them for exams, and provide them with instructions on how to use contacts, eye drops, and post-surgery medications. Accurately obtain and document chief complaint, medical history, vision, intraocular pressure via tonopen and tonometer, and administer dilating drops. Thoroughly document procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to, medical history and physical exam, procedures and treatments. Oversee prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up. Educate patients regarding administration of medications as directed by physician. Computer literacy and problem solving is necessary. Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. Assist with clinical flow. Perform diagnostic testing such as OCT, fundus photography, and fluorescein angiography. Organize instruments and supplies for in office procedures. Sterilize/autoclave instruments. Monitor inventory and restock medical forms and patient education materials. Monitor and restock inventory of medical supplies, medications and samples. Ability to communicate with patients, physicians and co-workers is critical. Coordinate and schedule surgery. Additional duties as assigned by Physician or Management.
