Salon Outside Sales Representative

Salon Business Consultant Be a part of something bigger! Salon Business Consultant is a sales solution specialist role, covering and growing a territory in and around Columbia, West Columbia, Camden, Chapin, Lexington, Irmo, Lugoff, Newberry, Prosperity, South Carolina (SC). The ideal candidate would reside in or very near Columbia, SC. Uncapped commission, vehicle reimbursement plan and full benefits. Essential Function Salon/Beauty Industry experience highly preferred. The Salon Business Consultant is responsible for an assigned territory of customers whose main focus is to help grow their salons’ overall sales. The Consultant will meet and achieve assigned sales goals using manufacturer education and sales resources. Sales should be expanded through new customers, product promotion, new concepts, and the use of all forms of social media to serve salons, barbers, spas, schools, and licensed beauty professionals. Primary Duties Grow the Business: Identify key accounts within the territory and establish the most efficient route to grow and develop existing customers while pursuing new partnerships. Demonstrate and assist customers in planning, implementing, monitoring, and tracking results of all in‑salon promotions, programs, and concepts. Determine customers’ needs and offer products and services to meet those needs. Communicate all sales initiatives through partnerships with vendors, including achieving corporate sales goals on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Acknowledge and respond to all email, text, and phone communication within 24 hours. Analyze accounts to decide what brand support, education, and promotions are needed to grow within each salon. Call on customers in person to execute established sales goals. Strictly comply with returns processing procedures, including pick‑up of returns and completing required documents. Complete assignments and projects timely. Collaborate with business functions such as customer service, accounts receivable, IT, and other necessary departments. Actively prospect for new customers through cold calling, social media, and other digital outlets. Effectively manage all administrative aspects of the role, including daily order entry and regular maintenance of customer information in Salesforce.com. Attract and retain salon clientele by using social media for communication, promotion, education, and product knowledge. Conduct effective in‑person and virtual product knowledge classes. Communicate with management regarding calls, visits, orders, sales progress, follow‑up plans, and any required assistance. Grow Team and Culture: Serve as a subject matter expert on digital platforms and social media, sharing knowledge to grow the team’s digital capabilities. Attend all meetings, functions, and events and maintain regular contact as established by the Company or Supervisor. Be available to attend shows, participate in setup and dismantling of displays and booths, handle back stock, and perform other physical activities as required. Support all new initiatives with a growth mindset, fostering positive change management throughout the team. Grow Yourself: Demonstrate a desire to learn and grow, striving for continuous improvement and owning personal development while enhancing digital and social media techniques. Schedule and attend business development days (BDD) to increase product knowledge and build vendor relationships. Allocate and optimize time to participate in learning using all available tools and resources. Remain agile to market changes while building industry knowledge to respond to a competitive market. Actively work to increase own product, industry, and market knowledge. Create an organized work environment and workflow to efficiently serve customers. Experience And Skills Required High school diploma or equivalent certification. Minimum of one year of outside sales experience or beauty industry experience, emphasizing consultative selling. Must live within the assigned territory. Knowledge of inventory control systems and visual merchandising is strongly preferred. Excellent knowledge and experience using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other social media platforms to build pipelines, books of business, and other business needs. Strong computer skills, knowledge of Salesforce.com, Outlook, PDF Expert, and Oracle. Experience with iPad is a plus. Ability to build an online community and create social connections, including using search engines and other internet tools. Requires local travel within the territory, attendance at shows, conventions, and educational events, which may include overnight travel and/or weekend nights. Ability to work safely and maintain a constant state of alertness. Frequent and sometimes prolonged driving periods are necessary. Committed to scheduled hours and flexible to work additional hours based on changing business needs. Strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Professional business image and positive public interaction. Clear verbal and written communication skills at all levels inside and outside the organization. Working Conditions / Physical Requirements The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles.
