Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: Illinois state RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC or TNS or TCRN Must-Have: - Emergency department nursing - Patient assessment - Care plan development - Nursing interventions - Patient safety Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients through the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources. The RN performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the area of practice. The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes initial assessments upon patient admission and develops appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. The RN implements plans of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. The RN modifies plans of care based on continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. The RN communicates with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge. The RN identifies personal learning needs and takes the initiative to begin appropriate solutions. The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. The RN implements procedures and theories specific to emergency department nursing. The RN performs patient assessments and develops care plans in collaboration with providers, families, and patients. The RN executes plans of care and nursing interventions. The RN modifies care plans based on continuous assessment. The RN is responsible for patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions and by adhering to safety standards. The RN effectively communicates and collaborates with staff, visitors, and families to promote a healthy and healing work environment. The RN maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
