Occupational Therapist Responsibilities Evaluate the patient to determine rehabilitation needs, potential for achievement, and develop a plan of care according to findings. Participate in the implementation and development of the plan of care to ensure quality and continuity of care and proper discharge planning. Make the initial therapy evaluation visit and re‑evaluate the patient’s therapy needs during each visit. Make follow‑up assessments according to OASIS and PPS regulatory guidelines. Communicate significant findings, problems, changes in condition or environment to the appropriate supervisor, physician, and other team members involved with patient care. Initiate plan for patient safety, using the patient, family, and community resources. Verify the plan of care prior to each visit and provide care according to physician’s orders, assessment data, and established standards and guidelines. Write physician orders to cover additional visits and changes to the plan of care, per agency policy. Incorporate patient‑care goals established in the plan of care into therapy care, as evidenced by documentation in therapy notes. Perform occupational therapy services in accordance with accepted standards of practice and certified by the patient’s physician. Instruct and provide patients and/or their families with activities of daily living utilizing adaptive equipment as well as sensory integration and fine motor coordination skills. Assist patient and/or caregiver in securing necessary equipment, which may include fabrication of custom‑made splints. Instruct the patient and/or caregiver in the therapy home program, providing modification and clarification when necessary. Counsel and instruct the patient and family in meeting therapy and related needs. Supervise and/or provide clinical direction to the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), Home Health Aide (HHA), and clinical staff to ensure the therapy care plan is followed and quality of care is provided. Physical Demands Physically demanding, high‑stress environment. Full range of body motion including handling, lifting and transfer of patients. Possibly work irregular hours including call hours if applicable. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program. Current, unrestricted OT license valid for the state of work. Minimum one (1) year of experience in a clinical care setting. Must be able and willing to travel within branch/office coverage area; a dependable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance per state laws. Must be able to travel 50% of the time. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently and lift 50–100lbs. Compensation The low end of the compensation range is $81,000 to the high end up to $111,000 annually, which may include additional earnings for work beyond quota, bonuses, on‑call, or other performance‑based compensation variables. Compensation is determined based on education, job‑related knowledge, skills, training, and experience. It may vary depending on location. Reporting Structure You will report to the Branch Director, Clinical Manager, Clinical Supervisor or a designee.
