Senior Software Developer

Job Summary:

The Senior Software Developer is responsible for translating technical system specifications into functional, tested applications. This role involves designing, coding, testing, debugging, and maintaining software solutions while collaborating with IT professionals throughout the software development lifecycle. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, experience with multiple programming languages and platforms, and the ability to deliver high-quality software aligned with business objectives. Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed programming specifications and generate code for data-driven applications.
• Compile, maintain, and conduct unit testing of software applications.
• Resolve and troubleshoot technical problems during software operation, including implementation, conversion, and migration support.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business goals and support delivery outcomes.
• Design and implement REST API integrations following best practices.
• Incorporate security requirements and comply with organizational security standards and policies.
• Conduct user experience research and translate user stories into product enhancements.
• Perform thorough code reviews, including unit tests, to ensure software quality.
• Provide post-implementation support and resolve technical issues as needed.
• Write and maintain technical and user documentation.
• Participate in release management, change management, and patching activities.
• Deliver knowledge transfer sessions and produce technical reports and updates.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, developers, architects, project managers, and QA.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Solid and current programming knowledge, ideally including Java.
• Experience with low-code platforms such as Power Apps.
• Proficiency in Azure DevOps and GitHub.
• Strong understanding of server operating systems including Windows and Linux.
• Experience with relational and hierarchical database technologies, including Oracle 19c and DB2.
• Ability to assess and test Change Requests (CRQ) and update technical content accordingly.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Experience with application design, development, debugging, and documentation.
• Knowledge of structured methodologies for software design, development, implementation, and maintenance.
• Ability to conduct user experience research and translate findings into viable enhancements.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Knowledge and experience with rapid application development (RAD) methodologies.
• Experience with middleware, gateways, and application monitoring/support.
• Familiarity with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related standards.
• Experience in conducting design walkthrough sessions and code reviews.
• Understanding of Information Management principles, policies, and practices.
• Experience with change management and release management processes for large applications.
• Leadership abilities to oversee quality assurance from a technical perspective.

• Must work onsite at the designated office location.
• Ability to work collaboratively within distributed and cross-functional teams.
• Commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality solutions.

Scheduling:

• Standard work hours are 7.25 hours per day, Monday to Friday, between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM (excluding lunch breaks).
• Onsite presence required during scheduled hours.
