About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of oncology experience License: Required Certifications: BLS, Chemotherapy Certification Must-Have: Experience with patient ratios of 1:3 to 1:5 Description: This is a 30-bed unit specializing in the care of patients undergoing blood and marrow transplantation. The unit provides adult inpatient care for oncology patients. Registered Nurses participate in meeting the complex care requirements of this population. Travelers with prior patient ratio experience of 1:3 or 1:4 are preferred, but 1:5 will be considered. Nurses will need to float between like units as required. The position involves providing comprehensive care including administering medications, managing symptoms, and educating patients. RNs are expected to handle complex clinical situations and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team for optimal patient outcomes. Daily census for the unit averages around 29 patients. The role requires registered nurses to be proficient in using electronic health record systems. Candidates should have the skills to manage central lines, access ports, and administer chemotherapy. Experience in handling complications related to oncology and caring for patients in a specialized setting is essential.
